Champions Trophy – England wins it easy over Bangladesh

Bangladesh would have never thought that they would make it easy for England to win after scoring a huge 305-6 after batting first. The opener Tamim Iqbal top scored 128 by firing 12 fours and 3 sixers. He had a 51 run partnership for the first wicket with Soumya Sarkar . The major breakthrough came for England when they claimed the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahman who scored 79 but by then, the score card read as 263. He scored 8 boundaries out of this. Sabbir Rahman scored a quick 24 out of 15 deliveries.

For England, Plunkett and Joe Root took 2 wickets each.

Chasing the total of 306, England had a shocker when it lost its opener Jason Roy when the score was just 6. After that, there was no turning back. Alex Hales scored 95 out of 86 deliveries with 11 boundaries and 2 sixers. Eoin Morgan scored a quick fire 75 out of 61 deliveries with 8 boundaries and 2 sixers.

However the Man of the Match for the day was Joe Root who not only claimed 2 wickets but also scored a unbeaten 133 out of 129 deliveries with 11 boundaries and a sixer guiding his team to a comfortable victory in its 48th over for the loss of just 2 wickets. The third wicket saw a partnership of 159 runs whereas the fourth wicket, an unbeaten 142 runs.

The host nation is the favourite to win the tournament.
