Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with US President Donald Trump, China has said that it does not want US and India to interfere in matters related to the South China Sea. As per international laws, nations can only control a certain area of the seas near their coastline, but China is utilizing strong arm tactics to gain complete control of the South China Sea. This has been opposed by many countries bordering the South China Sea and by the United States as well since the US considers the area as a strategic international trade route. China has issued this latest statement, as the country does not want US and India to reach any agreement that may come in conflict with China’s interests in the South China Sea.
China said that it has already discussed matters with regional countries and things are cooling down in the region. China now wants non-regional countries such as United States to stop interfering with its matters in the South China Sea. China said that it is willing to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and it expects other countries to play a constructive role towards that end.
