The official mouthpiece of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said today that China has moved several thousand tons of military hardware to the remote mountains of Tibet region amidst the continuing standoff with India over the Sikkim border issue. The PLA Daily said that the vast amounts of military hardware were moved to a location south of the Kunlun Mountains in northern Tibet by the Western Theatre Command. This command has been formed to track the restive regions of Xinjiang and Tibet and it also handles border issues with India.
The PLA Daily said that the movement of military hardware has been happening since the last month and it is being done using both road and rail networks in the region. The PLA daily has become increasingly annoyed with India over the Sikkim border issue and it has been consistently issuing various types of veiled warnings. This report about the movement of military hardware can also be a veiled threat to India. Indian security and intelligence agencies are yet to confirm the veracity of such claims. As it is, the PLA Daily has not mentioned the reason why China is moving vast amounts of military hardware close to the Indian border.
