Chinese President Xi Jinping has asked the army to be combat ready amidst the ever growing tension in the South China sea regions which sees the claims over disputed islands between China, Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei and Vietnam among other countries.
Xi, the ruling Communist party’s General Secretary & the Central Military Commission’s Chairman, made the comments while inspecting the Southern Theatre Command of the People’s Liberation Army on Friday. He also wanted the army to be corrupt free so that they can function to its fullest efficiency.
The 2.3 million-strong People’s Liberation Army, the world’s largest saw President Xi talking among them passionately. Mr Xi is the Powerful leader ever to head the party and will be completing his term of 5 years this year and is expected to be re-elected once again for further 5 more years.
Xi requires an accelerated building of the theatre joint combat command system, vigorous development of a new-type fighting force with simultaneous improvement of national defence strength and economic development which could make China a consolidation in the region.
