In a case of a road rage, a 20-year-old student was allegedly shot dead by Janta Dal (United) lawmaker’s son in Bihar’s Gaya district on Saturday.
According to the police, Rocky, son of legislative council Manorama Devi, sprayed bullets on the car victim, Aditya Kumar Sachdeva, was travelling along with his four friends after an altercation over overtaking.
Police said, “A bullet pierced through the rear windshield and hit Aditya’s head. The victim was sitting in the back-seat.”
Police have taken Devis’s husband, Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav, and guard Rajesh Kumar into custody on Sundayfor helping the accused flee.
Police have recovered 70 rounds of ammunition and a carbine from Devi’s residence Magadh Range DIG Saurabh Kumar told the media.
However, Yadav pleaded innocence and said that his son was assaulted by a group of youngsters in inebriated condition forcing his son to open fire.
“Everybody has the right to self-defense,” said Yadav.
He also added that his son has a licensed weapon and it might have gone off during a scuffle.
However the Gaya Police said Rocky picked up a quarrel by arms after Aditya, son of a Gaya based businessman’s son and a class XII student, and his friends allegedly ignored signals to overtake on a narrow road. Aditya was returning home from a birthday party in Bodh Gaya.
The friends took Aditya to Gaya’s Anugrah Narayan Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
