A cloudburst which has occurred in Manasarovar yatra route has resulted in the killing of four soldiers and three civilians who went missing. The unfortunate incident tool place in Mangti Nala and out of four casualties, three bodies were recovered in Malpa in Uttarakhand.
The route has been closed following the incident. The two bridges which are in Mangti anf Simkhola have been damaged and the road is blocked at Ailagad since the water is overflowing on danger levels from the River Kali.
Subsequent floods and landslides caused due to the cloudburst has made the route untenable. On Sunday, at least 46 people died after a landslide swept away two state transport buses in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district. Continuous rain hampered the rescue operation, but five were pulled out alive from the debris.
The landslides and floods are a regular incidents that occurs in this part of area during the months of August-September but nothing much could be done with regards to it since the availability of land is limited and the place is always been crowded with pilgrims who risk their lives to take up the dangerous routes to visit their Lord.
It is not only in this area but other parts as well which involves hills especially in the Himalayan region which are always prone to floods, landslides and earthquakes.
