When the Congress decided to shift its Gujarat MLAs to Bengaluru, most of them had thought that it would be a grand vacation and they would get the opportunity to visit famous places in Karnataka such as the magnificent temple of Tirupati and the panoramic blue hills of Kodagu. However, their plans have been dashed since they are not even allowed to leave the compound gate of the luxury resort where they are being kept. One reason is that the Congress is worried that they may be influenced by BJP and may leave Congress and join the saffron front. The very reason the Gujarat MLAs were brought to Bengaluru was to prevent them from getting influenced by BJP.
Already, one of Congress top leader Shankarsinh Vaghela has quit and three of his supporters joined the BJP. Fearing further erosion, the Congress quickly shifted all of its remaining MLAs to Bengaluru. The Congress is trying to protect its flock in Gujarat, as their votes will be crucial in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat. The other reason for cancelling their vacation plans is that there have been major floods in Gujarat and if the MLAs go on vacation, it would create a bad impression on people in Gujarat.
All Congress Gujarat MLAs staying at the luxury resort in Bengaluru are currently attending various classes including teachings about the history and greatness of the Congress party. Classes that point out to the negativities of the BJP are also being organized.
