Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, one of the world’s richest men, is being question in a courtroom as a witness in a case involving the theft of technology done by Occulus, a company owned by Facebook. ZeniMax, a video game developer has sued Occulus, for using its intellectual property without its permission.
Occulus was acquired by Facebook for $2 billion. Occulus manufactures devices that help users enjoy a virtual reality experience. Facebook believes that its future lies in virtual reality and this is the reason for it acquiring Occulus. ZeniMax has accused Occulus of using their technology to develop its virtual reality product, especially the Rift.
Mark Zuckerberg was put on the witness stand by ZeniMax to understand how and why he acquired Occulus. Zuckerberg said that every now and then when a company was acquired for a large amount, people with similar technologies come and make such accusations.
This is not the first time Mr. Zuckerberg has been in the dock for such accusations. Even when he started Facebook, he was accused by Eduardo Saverin of similar things.
