Cow butchery is banned in 84 percent of India’s states including union regions – IndiaSpend 

Gujarat state assembly made an amendment in state’s cow safety rules by outspreading extreme sentence for cow butchery. Now it has now increased from 7 years to a lifetime imprisonment along with fine up to Rs 5 lakh.

IndiaSpend established in its analysis of cow protection that till 31st March 2017 cow butchery has been banned in 84 percent of India’s states and union regions and this 84 percent has 99.38% population of the country.

The oldest prohibitions on cow butchery have been directed in Jammu & Kashmir in 1932 and in Manipur in 1936, even before the independence of the country.
