Setting a new trend, cow milk was served at an Iftar party in Madhya Pradesh, instead of the usual dishes made from beef or other types of meat. Making this significant change possible was Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), which is the Muslim Wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). According to Manch’s convener, SK Muddin, cow milk was served at the Iftar since cow milk offers a lot more benefits in comparison to beef or other types of meat. Muddin said that beef was in fact harmful for human consumption and the same has been endorsed by Muslim scriptures. It may be recalled that Muddin is in charge of MRM in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Over the last two days, MRM has served cow milk to fasting Muslims in Betul and Jabalpur districts. MRM members said that they have received a good response from the worshippers who are observing fast during Ramzan. They are currently planning to extend the service to other districts in Madhya Pradesh. They provided the argument that cow milk is very easy to digest, which is why it is given to infants too. They said that in comparison, cow meat is quite unhealthy and harmful for the body, something that has been endorsed in the Hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad).
