Hazardous locations (HAZLOC) refer to places where flammable gas, vapour or mist hazards may arise or where explosive dust atmospheres and combustible dust layers are present. Equipment used in such areas must be designed to prevent the generation of sparks, flames, electric arcs, high surface temperatures, acoustic energy, optical radiation and electromagnetic waves that may ignite explosive atmospheres.
