Central Association of Private Security Industry and Association of Private Detectives and Investigators launched their 13th Annual Security Skills and Leadership Summit at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) today. Shri Shivraj Patil, Former Home Minister and Governor of Punjab was the chief guest at the event hosted by Chairman of CAPSI & APDI, Kunwar Vikram Singh. A large number of eminent dignitaries including Sh A R Kohli, Former Governor of Mizoram; Sh Sharad Yadav, Former Union Minister and Sh. Shahnawaz Hussain, Former Union Minister graced the event. The two day conference has been organized with the aim to discuss welfare and development issues related to the Private Security Industry.
The event was inaugurated in the traditional manner by lightening of lamps followed by welcome address by the Chairman who gave out a broad perspective of important issues being faced by the Private Security Industry (PSI) today. Kunwar Vikram Singh stated “Laws, rules and regulations that were created in the first place to safeguard the interests of private security companies and their professionals won’t be of much use unless there’s a dedicated department/Directorate to solely listen to their issues. A dedicated department/Directorate will surely resolve all challenges and problems faced by private security companies by creating a direct channel of communication between the security companies and the government.”
This was followed by addresses from important dignitaries. The highlight of the morning was the felicitation of Late Shri. Vishambher Singh who laid down his life in the course of discharging his duties and thwarting the evil designs of dacoits who attacked the cash van in his charge with the intent to steal approx. Rs. 4.5 crores cash. In recognition to the valiant act of Late Shri. Vishambher Singh, CAPSI conferred on him the CAPSI BRAVERY AWARD (SurakshaShauryaPuraskar), and a compensation of Rs. 1. 5 lacs. The award was received by the family of Late Shri. Vishambher Singh amidst thunderous applause from the audience present.
The inaugural session was rounded off by Shri. Shivraj Patil who thereafter presented mementoes and awards to the deserving personalities from the Private Security Industry. The rest of the day was devoted to serious discussions on issues pertaining to the private security industry. To promote the second generation of security professionals with education, training and placement support, CAPSI announced providing BBA in Security Management for the children of Security Supervisors. This 3 years course is being designed in collaboration with Noida International University (NIU) and the course is schedule to commence with effect from the academic session July 2019. Arrangements are also being made to finance the education of bright students with special scholarships from SSSDC. To further support their costs of education, Nationalized banks are being approached to provide soft loans which are payable in 20 years.
This was followed by high-voltage discussions and decision-making sessions which covered crucial topics of GST imposition – “Survival of MSME of Security Sector” A National Challenge; Directorate of Private Security – A Game Changer; Certified Security Professionals- Excellence in Job Performance; MOU between ICISSM (International Council of Security & Safety Management) & CAPSI; CPII – Partnership between Insurance Investigators & Insurers in mitigation of Frauds and Star Rating of Private Security Agencies -A Joint initiative with Quality Council of India. To conclude with the day, the last session included discussions of organizational issues of CAPSI & APDI wherein the status reports and issues relating to their jurisdiction were put forward by all the Chapter Presidents. And, the Day 1 finally ended on a lighter note with a Gala Dinner.
