Deepti Sharma created history when she scored 188 against Ireland yesterday in the Quadrangular series in in Potchefstroom, South Africa. This score is the highest for an Indian in Women’s ODI Cricket. The previous highest score record was held by Jaya Sharma who scored 138 against Pakistan in 2005. Deepti’s score is the second highest overall with the record held by Australia’s Belinda Clarke who has scored an unbeaten 229 versus Denmark at Mumbai in 1997.
The score helped India beat Ireland by a mammoth 249 runs. The pair Deepti Sharma and Poonam Rout has scored an opening record score of 320 where Poonam scored 109 runs.
While Deepti had ht the score in 160 balls which included 27 boundaries and 2 sixers, Poonam 116 delivers to score 109 with 11 boundaries.
India ended the match with 358-3.
