The controversy surrounding sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra and the allegations he has made got all the more complicated today as a defamation case was filed against him by Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. A criminal defamation case has also been filed against AAP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa. In both the complaints, it has been alleged that the responsible people have tried to defame Satyendar Jain, which has resulted in irreparable damage to his reputation and his future career prospects. The complaints have been registered in the Tis Hazari court, and the case will come up for hearing on May 29. It remains to be seen how Kapil Mishra responds now. It may be recalled that conviction in defamation case entails a punishment of maximum two years.
Speaking about the filing of defamation charges, Satyendar Jain said that Kapil Mishra could have directly approached the law enforcement agencies, but he deliberately discussed the matter in media since he wanted to tarnish his image. Jain said that Mishra knew that media reports will be read by majority of people, so it would be the most effective way to defame him. Jain also alleged that it was Mishra’s plan to destabilize the AAP government in Delhi and take over its control.
