Claiming that mosquitoes don’t wait for meetings, the Delhi high court has slammed the authorities including AAP Govt, Delhi MCD and Centre over not taking any preventive steps. The HC ticked off the authorities for only holding discussion and for not able to control the spread of vector borne disease in the national capital.
A HC bench of Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Hari Shankar said that there have been no preventive measures taken by the authorities at the ground level. The bench also asked about the details of actions taken at the ground level by the MCD and AAP Govt as well as Centre to curb the spread of the mosquitos.
The bench also targeted the authorities for not launching any awareness drive or advertisements despite yesterday being declared as National Dengue Day. Both the Justices argued that citizens of Delhi must be informed and awareness drives should be facilitated as per Right to Life under the Article 19 of Indian Constitution.
The HC bench also issued directions such as geographical mapping, time scheduling for fumigation and inspections as it observed that authorizes are working in a haphazard manner without logical and scientific basis.
When the bench was informed that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and LG Anil Bajaj are looking in this matter and high level meetings are organized to tackle the situation, the bench claimed that ‘Mosquitos don’t wait for the meetings.’
