The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has registered yet another feat by entering the prestigious Limca Book of World Records. The record is about erecting 200 U-shaped girders in the shortest possible time. The 200 girders were erected by DMRC within a record time of one month, which is the maximum number erected on any metro corridor in the country. DMRC released a statement about its recent achievement, which read, “DMRC successfully executed the task of erecting 200 U-shaped girders on the Noida – Greater Noida corridor in May 2016. This is the maximum number of U-shaped girders ever launched on any metro corridor in India within a month.”
Girders support the metro tracks and are instrumental in expediting metro construction projects. With this feat, the construction work on the corridor will get a major boost. This specific corridor will be 30 km long, will be completely elevated and have 21 stations. All stations will feature state-of-the-art technology such as rainwater harvesting systems, platform screen doors, and solar panels. The project is worth Rs 5,533 crore and it is being executed by DMRC on behalf of Noida Metro Rail Corporation.
