Delhi Municipal Election 2017 Clashes With CBSE examination; Elections Rescheduled By A Day

The  Delhi State Election Commission has postponed the municipal corporations elections for a day due to its date clash with the CBSE examination. The elections will be held on April 23 now and the date of counting was also changed from April 25 to April 26.

State Election Commissioner S.K. Srivastava said that many CBSE exams will be held on April 22, and many of the examination centres would also be used as polling stations. State Election Commission was unable to overcome the shortage of polling stations on April 22.

As per the notification issued by the Commission, while the date of polling and counting has changed, the rest of the poll schedule remains the same.
The municipal corporations notification will be released on March 27 and the last date for nomination is finalized as April 3. The submitted documents will be scrutinized  on April 5 and last date for withdrawal of nominations would be April 8.
The Election Commission had released the original schedule on March 14. The much-awaited polls will decide the fate of 272 councillors. While NDMC and SMDC have 104 seats each, EDMC has 64 seats.
