Delhi Police after an encounter at Mathura railway station on Tuesday arrested a most wanted gangster who was on run after fleeing from jail in 2015.
Sleuths of Delhi Police special cell along with UP Police had laid a trap in Barsana to nab Sher Khan. Special Cell of the Delhi Police had got a tip-off that Khan along with his associates would be visiting his native village in Mathura.
Delhi Police officials said that Khan along with his associate was visiting his native to murder a rival gang member. Khan after his arrest told the police that their target had killed four family-members of his associate.
Police said, Khan along with his associates was intercepted while they were towards Kosi Kalan on a bike without a number-plate.
A police official part of the raiding team said that Khan and his associate opened fire on police team. Four police officials were hit by bullets fired by Khan, but all escaped any minor or fatal injury since they were wearing bullet-proof jackets.
Police team overpowered the two criminals after a short gun-battle. Police have seized an automatic 9mm-pistol, 20 live cartridges, a semi-automatic pistol and a stolen bike.
Delhi Police and UP Police had announced reward money of Rs50,000 and Rs10,000 respectively on Khan’s head. Khan was wanted for more than dozen of cases including robbery, murder and abduction.
