The court-ordered search of Dera Saccha Sauda’s 700-acre headquarters near Sirsa came to an end today. This was the third day of the search operations, which was done to collect more information about Dera’s operations and its links and associations with other individuals and entities. The search was also carried out from the point of collecting evidence against the organization and its chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. It may be recalled that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has already been convicted of rape charges by a special CBI court and he has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. On the third day of the search operations, the officials were not able to find anything substantial. However, they had found many things earlier such as luxury cars, explosives, Dera currency, a secret cave, etc.
The officials had earlier planned to excavate certain spots inside the Dera premises based on the suspicion that people could have been murdered and buried inside the premises. Some JCBs and tractors were there with the search team, but due to some reasons, they were not used. It is not yet clear why the search team did not order the suspected spots to be excavated. Some experts said that Dera management had got plenty of time before the search and they could have eliminated most of the strong evidence. A detailed report about the search operations will be submitted to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
