The Karnataka Government has effected the transfer of DGP (Prisons) H N Sathyanarayana Rao who was alleged for taking bribe to give special treatment to Sasikaa by DIG (Prisons) D Roopa were shifted with immediate effect.
Mr Rao has been replaced by N S Megharikh, Additional Director General of Police, anti-corruption bureau, who has been transferred with immediate effect and posted as additional DGP, Prisons.
It also said that Roopa has been posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety in Bengaluru.
Roopa earlier had alleged about bribery allegations levelled against the DGP,Prisons and was accused by DGP that she must have not gone to the Press and Media rather than discussing the issue with him in the first place being her superior officer but Roopa said that she did not made the report public but someone else had. Her report not only spoke about preferential treatment to Sasikala but also about functioning of special kitchen which is a clear violation of prison rules.
Rao reacted to the allegations saying it as “absolutely false, baseless and wild”, and said he would take legal recourse against his junior.
Responding to this, DIG Roopa said “let there be a fair fact finding inquiry to find out the truth”.
Roopa had also highlighted in her report the “special treatment” being provided to fake stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi.
The notification release by the Karnataka Government does not specify the post Rao has been been transferred to and who will replace Roopa.
