For those who have not heard about Rupa until yesterday when her revelation of Sasikala getting VIP treatment in Parapanna Agrahara prison for an alleged sum of Rs.2 crore, is the same officer who has arrested Uma Bharati when she was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Rupa who created a nationwide sensation by revealing the special treatment being meted out to Sasikala who has been lodged in prison for disproportionate assets case has been served a notice by the state government asking her to explain why she reported the issue to the media.
“It is absolutely against the rule book,” Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said who also noted “It is inappropriate on her part to share details with media”. The Chief Minister has appointed a retired IAS officer to conduct a probe on the inquiry and to submit the report on or before 3rd August.
Though Rupa has denied going to Press and Media about the issue and expressed her willingness to face the investigation said “I do welcome the impartial inquiry into it I have nothing against anyone. When the report was carried I did not talk to the media, instead I came straight to my chamber. In fact the DG prisons (Rao) disclosed everything about the report, so if conduct rules apply to me it should apply to everyone,” She noted further “And secondly, if I am being interviewed and did not say anything, the media would have misconstrued it by saying that I am avoiding. So I had to confirm about the report, but I have not spoken to the media on the contents of the report,” the DIG Prisons added.
