Dimora, Scotland’s first restaurant offering regional Italian cuisine, brings a taste of the Amalfi Coast to Newton Mearns.
Featuring food from Campania (renowned for its Neapolitan gastronomy) created with exceptional produce, regional wines and Scottish meat and fish of the highest quality, Dimora (Italian for ‘home’) aims to introduce to Glasgow the burgeoning trend for Italian chefs opening restaurants offering authentic Italian regional cuisine with a focus on quality Italian ingredients that chef proprietor Peppe Staiano had witnessed first-hand in London.
Born in Sorrento on the Amalfi coast in the south of Italy, catering is in Staiano’s blood; his parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts have all worked within the catering sector.
The Federation of Italian Chefs member and former Group Executive Chef at Manorview Hotels said: “Many Scots holiday in the Amalfi Coast and relish the food and drink on offer there, so I am convinced there is a market for authentic fresh Neapolitan cuisine in Glasgow.
“I’m proud of my culinary heritage and my aim for Dimora is to offer Scots a real taste of the south of Italy in a restaurant where Italians themselves would eat.”
Dimora’s menu features freshly baked breads and patisseries together with homemade pizzas and pastas – including its own scialatielle Sorrento pasta with wild mushroom, king prawns and truffle oil – with fresh blush tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and fish dishes featuring heavily.
With Sagra Campana, Dimora offers diners a new food experience every month (27th Sept, 25th Oct) with a taste of local food festival tradition from Campania, a mini tasting menu and a paired glass of wine for £19.95pp.
Dimora is located at 222 Ayr Road. Newton Mearns. To make a reservation call 0141 639 4018.http://dimorarestaurant.co.uk/
