It was a memorable day for Dongria Kondh tribal group in Rayagada district of Odisha, after nine girls from the tribe cleared their matriculation examination. Five Dongria Kondh girls got D grade, 2 girls got B2 grade and 2 girls got B grade. The girls were receiving their education at a specially designed educational complex, located in Parsali, in Kalyansinghpur block. It was under the management of the ST and SC development department. It may be recalled that many Dongria Kondh boys had already cleared such examination, but this is the first time that the girls of the tribal group have been able to do so.
Sub-collector (Rayagada) Muralidhar Swain said that it was a proud moment for both the tribal group as well as the administration. The educational complex has been providing education for students from Class 1 to Class X and the administration had been making efforts to ensure that the girls too registered their claim to passing the matriculation exam.
Speaking on the development, collector (Rayagada) Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar said, “The results are very satisfactory. Every care was taken to ensure better results in the HSC examination. While the teacher-student ratio was maintained at the educational complex to make sure that academic activities are not hampered, special care was provided to weak students.”
