Election commission has asked Congress party to appoint its president by 30th June of 2017. While Congress party raised reason to defer deadline for new president appointment as per party due to current assembly elections workers are invoiced in same and therefore unable to look at the president selection.
Congress General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi party stands by its own constitution and in this regard Election Commission cannot give us deadline for the purpose of appointment of president. As per Mr. Janardhan Dwivedi , they are astonished by the Election Commission is imposing deadline of 30th June 2017 to complete the Organization’s elections.
The Election Commission has directed Congress has to complete the organisational elections of the party and deposit the complete list of office-bearers, members of committees newest by 15th July 2017.
In response to Election Commission’s letter Congress told CWC has universally approved resolution last year on 7thNovember, 2016 to offer one year postponement to pursue organisational elections. This extension was approved, seeing the future assembly elections in five states and same was informed to Election Commission on 16th December2016.
Now the Congress Party has to take the initiative to elects its new president by 30th June 2017.
