On Monday, ED (Enforcement Directorate) said that the department has seized portable assets worth Rs 41.65 crore bought by a Delhi-based lawyer Rohit Tandon and others by using laundered money after demonetisation Under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the action was taken by ED, as per the ED official.
ED named only Rohit Tandon name, while detail of other people is not mentioned by the agency. Rohit Tandon was arrested on 29th December 2016 by the agency in case of allegedly changing demonetised currency worth Rs 60 crore into new currency with the assistance of Kotak Mahindra Bank manager Ashish Kumar and hawala trader Paras Mal Lodha.
As per ED sources Rohit Tandon gave Rs. 1.5 crore in form of commission to Ashish Kumar of Kotak Mahindra Bank’s Connaught Place branch for converting old currency with new currency.
