Continuing with its consistent efforts to make rail travel an enjoyable experience for travellers, the Indian Railways has introduced yet another user-friendly facility for travellers. This time, the Tatkal booking system has been updated, wherein a traveler can now book Tatkal ticket and pay at a later date. It may be recalled that Tatkal tickets are costlier than ordinary reserved tickets and it is possible that some people may not have the money to pay for it immediately. Not everyone may have ready cash or credit card to pay for the high priced Tatkal tickets. Keeping these factors in mind, the Indian Railways has launched the ‘book now, pay later’ facility for Tatkal tickets.
Under the book now pay later service, travellers can book Tatkal tickets and choose to pay at a later date. The payment can be made on IRCTC website within a period of 15 days. The information regarding the new booking facility was provided by Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain in the Lok Sabha today. A press release has also been issued about the launch of the new booking service. It has been mentioned in the press release that the facility will be powered by M/s Arthashastra Fintech Pvt. Ltd. At the time of booking, customers can choose ePaylater scheme, wherein a service tax of 3.5 percent will be levied along with other taxes.
