An FIR has been filed against technology giant Google for showing derogatory search results involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Such derogatory search results were displayed on Google and an FIR has been lodged with the police in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Speaking about the development, Superintendent of Police (City) Kamal Kishore confirmed the fact that an FIR has been lodged against Google and it has been filed under various sections of the IT Act. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint registered by lawyer Nand Kishore.
In his complaint, Kishore has stated that when he was browsing national news on Google, he had come across some entries that had described Modi in a derogatory manner. He said that it had hurt him and others who respect Modi. Meanwhile, Google said that it has not received any notice about the FIR. “We have not received any notice of this complaint and are unable to comment,” a Google spokesman said.
