An FIR was filed against three ministers from Tamilnadu after they had obstructed Income Tax officials during their recent raid in Tamilnadu Health Minister Dr Vijayabhaskar’s residence. The FIRs were registered based on a written complaint filed by the income tax department.
The cases were registered on Tamilnadu Ministers Udumalai Radhakrishnan, Kamaraj, Kadambur Raja and also the party senior member and special representative to the Government in New Delhi Thalavai Sundaram. While Ministers Udumalai Radhakrishnan and Kamaraj were booked for obstructing during the raid in Minister Vijayabhaskar’s residence, Kadambur Raja was booked for obstructing it during the raid in Actor Sarath Kumar’s house.
The FIRs were filed under IPC sections 183 (resistance to the taking of property by the lawful authority of a public servant) 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) 189 (threat of injury to public servant) and 448 (trespassing).
The case as not filed earlier but after the I-T Officials went to Commissioner of Police’s office and filed it in writing with Karan Singha, he has forwarded it to the jurisdictional officers to action upon it. This is probably the first time where three ministers were booked in Tamilnadu. It is also to be noted that the EC had transferred Commissioner of Police S George just before the RK Nagar bypoll elections which was cancelled.
