There are some electronic appliances that have become an integral part of a urban home. For example, you have the washing machine for laundry, air conditioner for cooling, vacuum cleaner for elimination of dirt, dishwasher for the utensils, best microwave toaster oven etc. They do multiple functions. A microwave oven can heat/reheat foods as well beverages. A clean knowledge of the manufacturer’s instructions and the device can outstand its living time. Yes, we are talking about the microwave oven. For example, you can warm the coffee/tea, reheat the pizza, make warm the dinner after a hard day work and many more. In short, there is a lot more job that can be given to the microwave oven if you are a home appliance expert.

But similar to other appliances, there are certain food items and materials you should never put in the microwave oven. News, you may have heard about containers and appliances catching fires, melting of wires or releasing of harmful toxins. The reasons may be many – explosions, failure of the entire appliance and suffering due to burns. Please read the instructions below to find the nature of foods and materials for your own safety.

  1. Eggs (shells)

A boiled egg is the best gateway to nutrition, but never put a shelled one in the microwave oven. To boil and get a half boiled egg. Yes, it looks easy, but is damn dangerous. The high pressure is created in the egg. And steam to escape will make the egg explode.

  1. Chili peppers

Home experts say that the medicine ingredient in the peppers known as capsaicin gets turned to vapors. This is because of high temperature in microwave.

  1. Breast milk

It has become the recent trend among new mothers to store breast milk. But when placed in microwave oven, it can get heated only at some corners. So the baby may face problems drinking the milk.

  1. A mug of water

Want to make tea? Try the easy way. Do not put water in the mug and add teaspoons of coffee and tea powder. It can unsettle the heating process inside, and you will get a explosion.

  1. Processed meats

When you heat hot dogs, the formation of COP or cholesterol oxidation products can happen. The result is coronary heart disease. You are leading a food to the worse stages.

  1. Leafy greens

A little off the blue whale, but it has been reported that kale and other green vegetables can give sparks when you put them in the microwave. Not to miss a dinner after a hard day’s work.

You can check the constituents of any oil. They are not pure liquids, but composed of fats. It may not catch fire, but why do you want to heat oil in the first place?

  1. Uncooked rice

You have heard about cooked rice blowing up the cooker, but uncooked rice? Although it does not burst, but the heat will not kill the harmful bacteria. You may suffer from food poisoning symptoms.

  1. Grapes (Or Other Fruits)

It is not helpful, in any way. Do you want to eat fruits with a hot interior? Think the other way around. Inside the grapes, is the juice or sap of the tree. If it vaporizes, then the grapes will start flying in the microwave oven. The other fruits may get scarred.

  1. Frozen Meat

Yes, you forgot to take the meat out of the fridge. Now you want to heat it so as to make a fast recipe. But no, in the oven, not all areas will get heated. Some may remain cold. When you prepare the recipes, the dish may also contain hard spots. 

  1. Broccoli 

The same old proverb. The oven can destroy the nutrients in the broccoli. It is better to give a gentle steam rather than placing in the oven.

  1. Leftover potatoes

Yes, you may be a lover of Mother Nature. It is humane not to waste food. But be careful. Leftover potatoes can lead to botulism and heating in the microwave cannot kill the organisms. You can become very sick.

Also follow the same practice with mushrooms. If you reheat the leftovers in the oven, you may become sick. Give a short simple flame and make them into salads.
