As per the latest ‘The World’s Billionaires’ list release by Forbes, there are 101 billionaires in India. The richest among Indian billionaires is Mukesh Ambani whose net worth is $23.2 billion. He is ranked at the 33rd spot in the list of global billionaires. The other Indian billionaires in the list include Lakshmi Mittal (No. 56; $16.4 bn); Azim Premji (No. 72; $14.9 bn); Dilip Shanghvi (No. 84; $13.7 bn) and Shiv Nadar (No. 102; $12.3 bn). This is the first time that the count of Indian billionaires has crossed the 100 mark.
The combined wealth of all the billionaires featured in the Forbes list is a staggering $7.67 trillion. At the global level, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has retained the top spot with a net worth of $86 billion. This is an increase of nearly $11 billion over last year’s figures. Warren Buffett reclaimed the second spot with a net worth of $75.6 billion. Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos was featured at the third spot with a net worth of $72.8 billion. Bezos has been the biggest gainer since his wealth was only $27.6 billion in last year’s list. At 4th and 5th spot are Spanish clothing retailer Amancio Ortega ($71.3 billion) and Facebook’s co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg ($56 billion), respectively.
