People in Goa can buy perishables such as fish, meat, vegetables or anything else at the press of a button on their mobile from December 31, which will probably make the state the first to go complete cashless.
People will be no need to carry purse for purchases and maximum transaction will be done on the mobile.
“The money used for purchase will be directed to the shopkeepers account,” RK Srivastava, chief secretary.
He added that to avail the facility one does not necessary have a smart phone. Person can make transactions even with a basic cell-phone. One will have to dial *99# from their mobile phone and follow the instructions to complete the transaction.
Another senior officer of the state said that they are introducing the system among small vendors especially ones who do not have a swiping machine.
