While PM Narendra Modi and BJP Party Chief Amit Shah are meeting the Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States to get apprised on situation in order to face the LS elections which is due by 2018 and the major elections in 2019, Congress MLA’s from Gujarat who have been in the news recently for being fielded in a Bengaluru resort which got raided unearthing hundreds of crores of unaccounted money from the Congress Minister D K Shiva Kumar are meeting the party cheif Sonia Gandhi and the party Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
All the 43 MLA’s of Congress who were initially expected to be defected to BJP during the recent RS election since it accused BJP of horse trading will meet the leaders today. Senior Gujarat Congress leaders have already held a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. The meet also saw the presence of general secretary in-charge of Gujarat, Ashok Gehlot. The leaders discussed a strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state in December.
Some survey reports suggests that Congress still enjoys a considerable support in the rural areas but the urban area is dominated by the BJP. In the last Assembly elections in 2012, the Congress won 23 out of the 41 tribal seats in the state.
While 4 out of 42 legislators have already reached Delhi on the weekend, the remaining 39 egislators have left Ahmedabad last evening and would be meeting the leaders today.
