After the Income Tax authorities raided the houses of Congress Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar which yielded an unaccounted income of hundreds of crores, the Gujarat Congress MLA’s who were safely kept in Eagleton resorts on the supervision of the minister is back to Gujarat but hold on. They a re not going back to their respective constituency but to another resort.
These 43 Congress legislators from Gujarat who are being safeguarded for the fear of being poached by BJP got shifted to Bengaluru initially which created a nationwide sensation after the I.T department officials raided all the places in connection with the incident. The drama was set up by the Congress as it did not wanted its MLA’s to vote in favour of the BJP led NDA Governmnt in the crucial Rajya Sabha elections.
The MLAs landed in Ahmedabad airport around 4:30 am today and they are expected to vote for three Rajya Sabha seats tomorrow.
Soon after they landed, all the legislators were whisked away to a resort in Anand district, 77 km from Ahmedabad. With 2 of them is expected to be won by the BJP leader Amit Shah who has been nominated for the Rajya Sabha for the first time and Smriti Irani, the competition is just for the another left over seat.
To get re-elected, Patel needs 45 votes on basis of the current strength of the assembly. The Congress is down to 51 seats which makes the equation tough unless all of them were cast in favour of their candidate.
