Former Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister and State Chief of the Samajwadi Party, Shivpal Singh has been given a ticket to fight from the Jaswantnagar constituency of Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming UP elections. His name figured in the first list of 191 candidates which was released by Akhilesh Yadav, SP National President and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The list of 191 candidates was for the first 3 phases of the UP polls. The list of candidates was announced just ahead of the SP’s alliance with the Congress Party for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh polls.
Mr. Shivpal Singh Yadav has been given the exact constituency that Akhilesh’s father Mulayam Singh Yadav sought for him. His inclusion into the list is seen as a reconcilliation between the father and son.
Senior SP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Beni Prasad Verma’s son Rakesh Verma who had been given a ticket to contest, has been replaced by Arvind Singh Gope, who is a sitting MLA and a minster from Ramnagar in Barabanki.
Powerful SP leader and State Minister Azam Khan will be contesting from Azamgarh and his son has also been accommodate by giving him a seat in Swar of Rampur district. Many other Akhilesh Yadav loyalists who were left out in a list released earlier by Mulayam Singh Yadav also got tickets. Akhilesh Yadav has taken care to exclude all anti social elements who have been accused of heinous crimes like rape, murder, dacoity and other unlawful activites.
