Haryana teachers instructed to wear formals to work
Teachers of Haryana have been asked not to wear jeans to school or on their visit to the directorate in Chandigarh by the state education board.
According to the official communiqué wearing jeans to work is not appropriate and teachers should wear formal clothes. No reason was written in the official letter for the development.
The officials of the state defended the order by saying, teachers are role models of students and should be dressed appropriately.
An government school principal who wished not to be named said, “School uniforms for students are formal. If our teachers to maintain the dress code of formal clothes… we can inculcate discipline better among the students.”
Earlier Haryana state department had instructed all it officials to wear formal clothes, while women and child development department had instructed its female employess to wear decent clothes to work.
