An helicopter crashed near Badrinath where a crew member was killed and two pilots were injured. The accident which took place at 0745 hours, had five passengers on board.
The pilgrims who are hailing from Vadodara in Gujarat are reported to be safe and they had left for their respective destination, a police officer said.
As per the DGCA statement, an engineer who has been identifies as Vikram Lamba hailing from Assam has died since he was hit by the rotor blades.
Chamoli Superintendent of Police Tripti Bhatt said the helicopter got disbalanced while taking off due to insufficient air pressure and fell down.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau(AAIB) will investigate the event.
Though the pilots are safe after the accident, Sanjay Waze, a pilot, complained of slight backache wheer as the co-pilot Alka Shukla, a resident of Kanpur, suffered minor injury.
