- Hero ISL juggernaut rolls into Delhi to engage with the capital’s football fans
- Delhi fans stand the chance to meet Alessandro Del Piero
Football fever is set to sweep Delhi this weekend with the Hero Indian Super League calling on the capital’s football fans to rally around the #LetsFootball battle cry.
The most-watched football tournament in India, the league will set up its #LetsFootball zone at the DLF mall in Saket on November 8th and 9th, with the aim of strengthening the connect between the ‘beautiful game’ and sports fans in Delhi.
Fans visiting the #LetsFootball zone stand the chance to meet football legend Alessandro Del Piero. All they have to do is record birthday messages to the Delhi Dynamos FC player who turns 40 on November 9th. The birthday wishes will be played back to Del Piero, and fans who have recorded the best five messages will get the chance to meet the World Cup winner in person as well as win autographed merchandise.
At the #LetsFootball zone, fans will also be able to catch live match screenings, watch free-style footballers demonstrating their skills and shoot penalties in a virtual football game.
The zone, housed under a giant, football-shaped dome-like structure, will also feature life-sized cutouts of the league’s marquee players with whom fans can click photographs, while a replica of the stunning Hero ISL trophy will also be showcased.
The Hero ISL juggernaut rolls into Delhi on the back of similar such events held in Chennai and Kochi. The on-the-ground initiative has proven to be extremely popular and has so far drawn thousands of Indian fans eager to support the birth of their country as a footballing nation.
Aimed at building a following for football among the country’s sports fans, the #LetsFootball cry will also be heard in Kolkata, Pune, Guwahati, Mumbai and Goa over the coming weeks.
The overwhelming response from the fans to the Hero ISL’s efforts to engage with them highlights the popularity the League has achieved just three weeks into its inaugural season.
