A CEO has to shoulder several responsibilities simultaneously such as taking important decisions, strategizing the company’s growth and expansion, looking after the overall operations of the company, directing other top executives in the organization, and communicating with the board of directors. To get an idea about their worth, here’s a quick look at some of the highest paid CEOs in the world.

Elon Musk – Featured among the world’s most powerful people, Elon Musk works as the CEO of Tesla, Inc. and SpaceX. He has also founded other companies such as The Boring Company, OpenAI and Neuralink. Musk is considered as one of the most talented tech CEOs in the current era. He has also taken up roles of an engineer, industrial designer and philanthropist. According to estimates, Elon Musk was paid remuneration of around USD 595 million in 2019. His current overall net worth is USD 91.9 billion.

Tim Cook – After joining Apple in 1998, Tim Cook had steadily risen in the company’s ranks. He was appointed as the CEO of Apple in 2011, just a few weeks before the death of Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs. Cook has had a very successful run as the CEO of Apple, as the company’s revenue and profits have doubled under his leadership. Apple’s market value has also increased from USD 348 billion to USD 1.9 trillion. Cook is also part of the board of other organizations such as Nike, Inc. and the National Football Foundation. In 2019, Tim Cook was paid remuneration of around USD 134 million. His net worth is estimated to be more than USD 1 billion.

Tom Rutledge – Known for his distinguished leadership, Tom Rutledge currently serves as the chairman and CEO of Charter Communications. In the same company, Rutledge has earlier served as the president. Prior to joining Charter Communications, he had worked with other leading companies such as Time Warner Cable. Rutledge is also a board member of other organizations such as CableLabs and C-SPAN. He also serves as the chairman of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA). According to estimates, Rutledge’s remuneration was USD 116.9 million in 2019.

Joseph Ianniello – A prominent media executive, Joseph Ianniello had served as the chairman of CBS Entertainment Group. Earlier, he had served as the president and acting CEO of CBS Corporation. It is estimated that Ianniello received USD 116.5 million as remuneration in 2019.

Sumit Singh – After starting his career with top companies such as Dell and Amazon, Sumit Singh joined Chewy, Inc. as chief operating officer in 2017. In 2018, he became the CEO of the company. Chewy is a preferred online destination for buying pet food and pet-related products. Under Sumit’s leadership, Chewy went public and was able to raise USD 1 billion from sale of shares. Sumit is estimated to be paid USD 108 million in 2019.
