Hike App doubles loss in year 2016

imagesHike is message app which is considered as the rival of Whatsapp, while it is founded by an Indian, whatsapp is founded by non-Indian.

The app was launched in year 2012, December. The hike is not popular among users compare to whatsapp. This year Hike has announced a huge loss of 217 crore. This loss is nearly double of previous year loss. In year 2015 Hike posted loss of 122 crore. This year in august Delhi-based Company managed to gain almost $175 million as funding in Series D given by Tencent and Foxconn. Tiger Global, Bharti and SoftBank are also in list of Hike as the investors.

ANI Technologies is the parent company of Ola app, they have also stake in HIKE with over $250 million, the huge funding from big name supported hike to compete with WhatsApp.

Whatsapp is the American messaging app and holding the largest number of users in the Indian market close to 100 million active users. As per the Hike, the app crossed 100-million-users line three months after crossing 70 million users in last year 2015.

Hike has also planned for some additional features like free voice calling, integrated mobile games.

About Hike

Hike was launched on 12 December 2012 and in its first round of funding, raised $7 million from Bharti SoftBank in April 2013. Hike is a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and SoftBank.

In year 2015 Hike had acquisition Zip Phones, which indorsed it to launch free app based calling services which are most used feature by the users. Users prefer to have app which can be used for message, callings also.

As per the company almost 30 % of traffic comes by stickers, in view of getting more traffic and hike launched Great Indian Sticker Challenge to invite designers to design stickers.

Hike Messenger’s founder and CEO is Kavin Bharti Mittal.

In view of providing privacy Hike uses a 128-bit SSL encryptedfirewalled server for interchange of text messages and media only on wifi. Moreover, the Messages are warehoused locally in user’s device and the data is not backed-up to Hike’s own servers. In Hike’s hidden mode users can easily hide individual and group chats.

In a feature, Hike Direct which allows users to share messages and files without any kind of data charges within a radius of 100 metres through Wi-Fi Direct, over interest also you can exchange the file or data of 100MB size.
