Hindu Temple gets preliminary approval in New Jersey

The 22.6 acres Om Sri Balaji Temple and Cultural Center has reportedly received preliminary approval from Township of Monroe Planning Board in Middlesex County of New Jersey.

After meeting various conditions for final approval, it is proposed to be built in two phases and would include 12,179 square feet main sanctuary, another two-storey supplementary temple, and would be open seven-days a week besides celebrating various festivals; reports suggest.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, commended efforts of Center leaders and area community for efforts towards realizing this Hindu temple complex.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this upcoming Center would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

Incorporated in 1838, prominent people associated with Monroe include football players Antonio Pierce, Lance Schulters and Randy Beverly. Richard Pucci, Gerald W. Tamburro and Wayne Hamilton are Mayor, Council President and Business Administrator respectively of Township of Monroe.
