Pakistan was disappointed with the United States which has marked the Hizbul Mujahideen which has unleashed terrorism in Kashmir as a foreign terrorist organisation calling the move as ‘unjustified’. This comes at the time when India has been trying all its best to make Pakistan agree that they nurture terrorists in their own backyard which has been vehemently denied by Pakistan, always.
“Declaring organisations or groups supporting freedom struggle in Kashmir as terrorist outfits is completely unjustified,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said during his weekly press conference in Islamabad reacting to the news that the US has designated the Hizbul Mujahideen as a foreign terrorist group. Just couple of months back, US has declared Syed Slahuddin who is based out of Pakistan as a Global Terrorist strengthening India’s claim on a consistent basis.
Nafees said the US decision did not take into account the 70-year struggle of Kashmiris by trying to pass on the privilege over the general public at large instead of the terror outfit. Hizbul Mujahideen is almost 30 years old since it was formed in 1989 and is one of the oldest as well as the largest terrorist groups in Kashmir.
“We are disappointed (with the US decision) in view of the fact that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute,” he said without compromising on the stance of Pakistan sating that his country has been providing ‘moral, diplomatic and political support to Kashmiri people’s struggle’ and would continue to do so.
