New Delhi, 15 March 2015: Hockey India (HI) today congratulated the National Women’s Team goalkeeper Savita for earning 100 international caps. Savita achieved this distinction playing against Poland team in the Finals of Hero FIH Hockey World League Round 2 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
Haryana- based Savita has represented India in almost every tournament that the country has played and showcased brilliant goalkeeping skills running from posts to the pillars.
In this journey of 100 international matches, the 24-year old Savita has made the country proud with her outstanding contribution since her debut at international stage. She has represented India recently in Commonwealth Games 2014, Glasgow and was also a part of Indian Women Hockey Team who won Asiad Bronze in 2014 Asian Games, Incheon.
Excited on completing 100 caps, Savita said, “I am extremely delighted to complete 100 caps with this match. I thank Hockey India who has identified and nurtured my talent and in the same way I hope a lot of hidden talents come to the fore”.
Congratulating Savita on her achievement, Secretary General Hockey India Mr. Mohd Mushtaque Ahmad said, “I am extremely delighted by the way the young girl has made all of us proud. Hockey India wishes her continuous success in her future international career and expects more brilliant performances from her in the times to come.”
With her eye- catching performances, she aims to play an important role for the side to do well and qualify for the 2016 Olympics at Rio.
