The adopted daughter of jailed Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Honeypreet Insan, moved the Delhi High Court on Monday seeking transit anticipatory bail.
She has been missing since the day the Dera chief was sent to Rohtak Jail.
Honeypreet, tops the list of 43 persons ‘wanted’ by the Haryana Police in connection with incidents of violence that had followed Ram Rahim’s conviction in the rape cases.
Earlier, a lookout notice was issued against Honeypreet by the police.
The bail petition has been filed in the name of Honeypreet Taneja. Honeypreet’s maiden name was Priyanka Taneja.
The Delhi High Court is likely to hear the anticipatory bail petition today.
The high court will remain closed for Durga Puja from Wednesday.
If the Delhi High Court admits her bail plea, it is possible that Honeypreet gets transit bail for a few days and then the high court transfers the case to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh.
But, there is also a possibility that the Delhi High Court asks Honeypreet to surrender first and then apply for bail.
The Haryana police teams have conducted several raids in the state, searching for Honeypreet.
But, her anticipatory bail plea indicates that she could be hiding somewhere in the country.
