How To Increase Your Child’s Height

Being tall is usually considered a positive personality trait, which is why most parents want their children to achieve the desired height. Research studies have revealed that tall people come across as more confident and cheerful. They are likely to be more successful in life and have reduced risk of health issues such as diabetes and heart disease. While genes play an important role in determining a child’s height, other factors also come into play such as diet and living environment. Let’s take a look at some things that you can do to make your child grow taller.

Balanced diet: Ensuring a nutritious diet for your kid is one of the most important things you can do to help them grow taller. A balanced diet will comprise adequate portions of protein, complex carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and healthy fats. You can get these from whole grains, lentils, milk and milk products, fruits & vegetables and nuts & seeds. You should try to avoid feeding junk food to your kids. Things like burgers, sweetened beverages, sugary snacks, and deep fried items are likely to create health issues.

Stretching exercises: These include all exercises that allow adequate stretching of the body. Hanging from a bar, doing chin-ups and pull-ups, and swimming help strengthen the spine and body muscles. This in turn provides the perfect condition for the body to grow taller.

Yoga: Certain Asanas (yoga postures) are also known to be helpful in increasing a child’s height. Asanas like Surya Namaskar, Chakrasana, Tadasana, Vriksh Asana, and Paschimotan Asana can help increase your child’s height. These Asanas are essentially stretching exercises, which aid tissue and muscle development.

Sunshine: Vitamin D plays a key role in the development of healthy bones and muscles. You should encourage your child to spend more time outdoors, so that they can get adequate Vitamin D from sunlight. You can also choose food items such as eggs, poultry, fish, and fortified dairy products to supply your child’s daily requirement of Vitamin D.

Sleep: Studies have shown that sleep affects human growth hormone (HGH), which is responsible for cell growth and reproduction. Good sleep is known to boost HGH, which provides the right conditions for proper growth and development.

Remember that these factors will only support your child’s natural growth and should not be considered as a quick fix for increasing your child’s height. You should also not get obsessed with making your child taller. Just make sure your child leads an active lifestyle and is getting proper nutrition. Leave the rest to nature. And absolutely avoid any pills or potions that promise to make your child taller. These are likely to do more harm than good.
