In this March month ministry of HRD issued a notice which made Aadhaar card obligatory for school children for mid-day meal. This step was raised to bring transparency and increase efficiency in Mid-day scheme. The notification covers entire India, except Meghalaya, Assam and Jammu & Kashmir.
After the rule applied, Ministry has released data mentioning that 4 lakh fake students are spotted who were enrolled with state education department.
State government officials tell that 4 lakh fake students were discovered in which two lakh belongs to Andhra Pradesh and same number from Jharkhand. The finding of 4 lakh fake student enrollment was possible as both states have covered their school student with Aadhaar Card.
However, administrators in education department of Ranchi could not establish the fact, if fake students which they found, were eating mid-day meals in government schools. No evidence for the fact.
