The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) may choose senior leader Hukumdev Narain Yadav from Bihar to replace Hamid Ansari as the new vice-president of India.
A media report surfaced on Thursday evening indicated that top party leaders, as well as the NDA, have already agreed on his candidature. News daily Dainik Bhaskar has reported the development citing BJP sources.
Hukumdev Narain Yadav is an OBC leader and a five-time MP from Bihar. He is also known for fiery and funny speeches in the parliament.
The JD(U) may also support the BJP on the selection of Hukumdev Narain Yadav as the vice-president of India. Hamid Ansari’s term as the vice-president of India will end in July.
75-year-old Hukumdev, who had been a union minister of state in the past, is an MP from Bihar’s Madhubani.
