India’s most loved Goan Restobar, the iconic “Goa Portuguesa” will turn 30 this year on December 3. It will celebrate the milestone by donating a part of the day’s proceeds to charity, curating a special anniversary menu, treating guests to complimentary house wine and a bonanza of redeemable gift vouchers.
Born on 3rd Dec 1988, Goa Portuguesa is the first ISO/GTDC certified Restobar and the only Goan and Portuguese ethnic eatery in Mumbai approved by Goa Tourism Dept.
“It will be a celebration never seen so far. On our anniversary, our patrons will enjoy live Goan and English music serenaded,table to table alongside an anniversary menu that includes delicacies like roast turkey, chicken roulade, coconut crunchy prawns, grilled stuffed cottage cheese and more. The restrobar will be fully redecorated for the day to reflect the milestone,” says Dr. Suhas Awachat.
The internationally recognised restobar is successfully managed by multifaceted proprietors Udyogshri Dr. Suhas Awchat M.D. F.R.S.H. (UK) (who has won President’s Medals as Sp. Police Officer) and his Goan wife Master Chef & CEO – Deepa Awchat (a former Indian Customs Intelligence Officer) Recognised by ‘The New York Times’, ‘Washington Post’, ‘The Sunday Times’ and many others. Goa Portuguesa has won the prestigious Times food Oscar ‘Best Restaurant’ Award 12 consecutive times at the Food Oscars Ceremony held by the Times of India Group.
The legendary Goa Portuguesa has had several food festivals in India and Foreign countries, and also pioneered successful festivals on board and in-flight catering in Air India as well as foreign airlines.
Goa Portuguesa has a beautiful façade incorporating Viceroy Arch and the dome of Mangeshi Temple, the interiors are decorated with stained glass, carved furniture and Mario Miranda paintings.
Goa Portuguesa has expanded with outlets at Andheri, Navi Mumbai, Chennai, Vadodara and there are more in the pipeline.
It has exploded the myth that Goan food is limited only to non-veg and seafood by introducing more than 108 pure vegetarian delicacies. Master Chef Deepa Awchat has personally formulated, researched all the dishes. She authored India’s first coffee table format designer Goa Portuguesa Cookbook.
