Team India is expected to finish its third test versus Srilanka with a high. After winning the first two tests thereby eventually winning the series already, Team India seems to be in full throttle against the clueless Lankans.
Resuming the play yesterday, as was mentioned earlier in our coverage, Team India did try to accumulate as many runs as possible so that it could make Srilanka to follow-on and did what was expected in a perfect fashion. After the dismissal of Saha, Pandya and Yadav came together for the partnership. India’s score was then 339. They added a quick 62 runs for the partnership when Saha got dismissed for 26. Shami and Umesh Yadav did not score much but what had happened with Pandya was a blitzkrieg as he went on to punish the Srilankan bowlers without showing any mercy. He took more deliveries to get o to his first fifty but the next fifty came in just 26 deliveries. He also created a Indian record for scoring most runs in an over when he punished Pushpakumara by scoring 26 runs in a single over which read as 4-4-6-6-6-0. He scored 108 in 96 deliveries with 8 boundaries and 7 sixers. When he got out, Team India was also all out for 487. Sandakan secured 4 wickets.
When Srilanka came to bat their first innings, they had a shock of their life. None of their batsmen could withstand Indian bowling. Only couple of them crossed 20 mark with Chandimal top scoring with 48 and Dickwella with 29. Indian bowling and fielding were at its supreme best and that made Lankans to be all out for a paltry 135 making them to follow-on. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets and 2 wickets each by Shami and Ashwin. With a deficit of 352 runs, Srilanka started playing its 2nd innings and has already lost their openers Tharanga and Karunartne. They are struggling at 26-2. India is expected to seal an innings victory.
