India is expected to pull a clean whitewash in the 3 test series against Srilanka, if all goes well. Having won the series already, the third test began yesterday. India had won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul had put up another stellar performance by scoring 188 runs thereby becoming the highest opening pair score against Srilanka in Srilanka.
Lokesh Rahul got out for 85 runs. Rahul equalled the World record with few other batsmen for having scored 7 consecutive half centuries. If he gets another one in the next innings or in the next test match, he would be the sole world record holder. Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed when the score reached 219. He scored a brilliant knock of 119.Both the wickets were claimed by Pushpakumara. Pujara disappointed with 8 and so as Rahane with 17 runs.
Kohli scored 42 and when he was dismissed, the score was 296 for 5. At the close of Day 1, Ashwin and Saha were on the crease and the score was 316. Having resumed the day today, they both were dismissed at 31 and 16 by Fernando and the score was wavering around 339 but the partnership between Pandya and Yadav has added 45 runs and were going strong. The score at the present moment is at 384-7. India may declare once the score reaches 500 or getting ll out which ever is earlier.
It is to be noted that the star player Ravindra Jadeja is not playing today after being given a 1 match ban which might prove to be a game changer.
