India is cruising on Day 2 with a strong foundation being laid on Day 1. India has won the first test already and looks like they are yet again on the verge of winning it again. India had a good start though it wasn’t a great one. When the score reached 56, Shikhar Dhawan got out. He scored 35 and was out leg before wicket on the delivery by Perera which he did not expect. He only took 37 deliveries for this.
Lokesh Rahul was run out when the score reached 109. Dickwella effected a brilliant run out to bring down the partnership with Pujara. Indian Skipper Virat Kohli did not shine in the match as he got dismissed for a paltry 13. The score then was 133. It was after this, a strong partnership was cemented between Pujara and Rahane.
The partnership could not be broken until the end of Day 1 where both of them scored a century. When the score reached 350, Pujaraa got out. He had scored 133 by then and the partnership with Rahane was worth 217. Ashwin joined hands with Rahane and the partnership went further for another 63 runs when Rahane got out stumped brilliantly by Dickwella on Pushpakumara’s delivery which deceived the batsman.
India is presently at 413-5. Rahane scored 132. Ashwin and Saha are at the crease at the moment with 35 and 7 runs respectively. India is expected to play until the end of the day or till they lose all the wickets before posting a competitive total to try their hands in winning the second test as well against the island nation.
